Description
The Gaskov Clergé Foundation (GCF) is a nonprofit, philanthropic organization established to promote health, sports, education and sciences in both the United States and Haiti. GCF is committed to empowering one individual at a time. Founded as a 501(c)3 organization in 1999, GCF is led by a volunteer Board of professionals in the Diaspora. The organization has built a solid track record of serving vulnerable communities in Haiti in the following areas:
Health: GCF provides quality health care and access to education to under-privileged populations in southern Haiti. Since it’s inception, GCF has completed close to 90K patient encounters through its well organized medical missions and its newly established medical center Klinik Fonfred, a fully equipped medical facility located in Fonfred, a rural community near Les Cayes. Klinik Fonfred is opened 6 days a week and offers Pediatric, Internal Medicine, Dental, Lab, X-Rays nearly free of charge to the vulnerable communities in Haiti. To date, Gaskov Clergé Foundation, with the active participation of the Diaspora, has funded over $1.2M in health care projects, including the medical center.
Education & Sports: The foundation has provided over 1,650 scholarships to deserving students. Past scholarship recipients are graduating as Lawyers, nurses, engineers and doctors. In addition, GCF funds sports tournaments that offer a positive outlets for the youth of the South of Haiti. Since 1999, the foundation, with the support of the diaspora, has invested over $130K in scholarships and sports tournaments that have positively impacted close to 3,000 students in Haiti.
Relief: After the 2010 earthquake, Gaskov Clerge Foundation rotated multiple teams that offered medical relief to over 3,000 victims. The foundation was also requested by the town of Les Cayes to provide relief for the victims of Hurricane Matthew in 2016. GCF’s relief team delivered relief directly to over 1,000 families victimized by the hurricane Matthew. In 2021, GCF was again requested by the community to intervene as an organization they can trust. The organization is raising $250,000 for its relief effort. The plan is to deliver 500+ families with a tent, water, a food kit and an hygiene kit. Then the local medical team on the ground will take mobile clinics to the impacted neighborhood to ensure these communities are receiving continuity of care and wound care. Lastly, GCF, in coordination with the Haitian Diaspora Emergency Response Unit (HDERU), will identify up to 20 families as recipient of assistance to helm them rebuild their homes. GCF is targeting to impact 500+ displaced families.

Needs
Need collaboration and funding for GCF's relief efforts
Phase 1 - 2 weeks (08/25 - 09/01) ($60,000)
Conduct mobile clinics in identified impacted areas where victims have not been seen by a doctor or a medical team. Coordinate these mobile clinics in identified impacted areas that have not been visited by a doctor or a medical team for two weeks. Each mobile clinic will consist of a self-sustained team of 2 local Doctors and 6 Nurses. The team will carry all the medications and supplies they icipate will be needed for the clinic. They will see patients free of charge. We are targeting care for 2,000+ patients and victims of the earthquake.
Work with local authorities and help victims in Land des Gabions return to their home sites and provide them immediate relief such as a tent, a food card, 5 gallons of potable water, and a hygiene kit. We will also provide relief to other communities outside of Les Cayes. Our goal is to provide assistance to 500 families.
Phase 2 - Three months (September - November) - ($200,000)
Repair damages at Klinik Fonfred - re-buid the security wall and repair building damages.
Out of 42 centres de sante, 16 are completely destroyed. The regional MSPP Director requested GCF’s help to provide health care for 3 communities in Camp Perin, Maniche and St. Louis. GCF evaluated this request. Based on the organizations’ resources, we will build a team for only one center and will decide on which one by September 1st.
Phase 3 - Rebuild - ($500,000+)
1. We are targeting 25- 30 families to help rebuild their homes. Families will be selected from 2-3 localities in rural communities in the South.
