Description
The Haitian Development Center of Delmarva was founded in February 2019 as a nonprofit, tax-exempt, 501 (c) (3) community-based organization to respond to the needs of a growing Haitian community on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, Southern Delaware and the Eastern Shore of Virginia, locally known as the Delmarva Peninsula.
HDCD's core mission is to welcome new Haitian immigrants to our region and to connect new arrivals to the community. The key principle of the spirit of welcome that drives the organization is community integration-helping new Haitian arrivals to become part of the local community through direct services in case management, Creole language interpretation and translation, and an after-school program from grades 3-12 called, "Bright and Futures".
