Country Of Origin
Country of Operation
Our strength is our ability to serve in one way or the other anyone who has come through our doors.
Long Term Plan
Our long-term goal is to thrive to become a strong resource center to respond to the needs of a great number of Haitian immigrants that have arrived in the community.
Our afterschool program has been up and running, helping an average of 30 Haitian students in the Salisbury Maryland area.
The Haitian Development Center of Delmarva was founded in February 2019 as a nonprofit, tax-exempt, 501 (c) (3) community-based organization to respond to the needs of a growing Haitian community on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, Southern Delaware and the Eastern Shore of Virginia, locally known as the Delmarva Peninsula.
HDCD's core mission is to welcome new Haitian immigrants to our region and to connect new arrivals to the community. The key principle of the spirit of welcome that drives the organization is community integration-helping new Haitian arrivals to become part of the local community through direct services in case management, Creole language interpretation and translation, and an after-school program from grades 3-12 called, "Bright and Futures".
1-HDCD has been able to assist more 200 families enroll their children in school
2--We have helped numerous Haitian students improve their grades and to go to college.
3- We have helped more than 300 individuals find employment in the area
Our area of weakness is not having the necessary means to help the Haitian immigrants in a much more effective way.
We are in need of funding to celebrate the Haitian Flag Day as part of our heritage. since the State of Maryland has made the month of May Haitian heritage month.
