Have a Haitian community center in Palm Beach County providing Haitian-centered services
Palm Beach Haitian Heroes is a youth service nonprofit that focuses on keeping young Haitians out of jail, but in school where they belong. Created in 2008 as a small focus group, PBHH conducts community dialogues year-round through a variety of ways. PBHH has reached out to nearly 1,500 young Haitians and engaged about 200 Haitian volunteers, ages 15 – 25. Beginning in 2014, PBHH convenes and hosts an annual youth conference in Palm Beach County every December. The first one in 2014, with the theme “Out of jail, but in school where I belong” was held in the city of Delray Beach and gathered more than 300 people. In 2015, the youth conference was brought to the city of Greenacres and gathered nearly 400 people. The theme for 2015 was “Preparing Palm Beach for the Post-Millennial Generation”. PBHH’s mission and purpose also include supporting, financially and otherwise, initiatives that seek to transform the life of those who become vulnerable because of their racial, ethnic, social, economic, and/or geographical situation.
