GHESKIO continues to provide world-class healthcare through research and national scale-up of interventions, some of which have influenced WHO guidelines for treatment and care in low-income settings. GHESKIO continue to serve populations affected by HIV and TB but also is building capacity for cardiovascular disease and other non--comunnicable diseases.
Ongoing Projects
GHESKIO’s services include primary health care, comprehensive disease prevention; treatment for HIV-positive adults, adolescents, infants, children and pregnant women; support for survivors of sexual violence; MCH and reproductive health; educational and nutritional support; microcredit and job training programs; emergency home visits; and peer counseling and specialized services for HIV/AIDS adolescents and young adults.
Description
GHESKIO has been providing medical and psychosocial care to the poorest in Port-au-Prince for 38 years. GHESKIO is well known in the community as it consistently adjusts for the needs of people they serve. GHESKIO also provides medical training and carries out research to scale health interventions nationally.
• The government conferred the status of “Public Utility” to GHESKIO, which recognizes organizations deemed essential to the wellbeing of the Haitian people.
• Recipient of numerous national and international awards including Gates Global Health and Kochon Prize.
